Faith Statement

We are a worshipping church.
At Grace Church, our highest calling is to glorify the Almighty God who created us and redeemed us through His Son, Jesus Christ. We believe our Lord is all-powerful, a consuming fire, and the greatest treasure of our lives. Our foremost desire is to honour and delight in Him through heartfelt worship and obedient living.

We are a Bible-centred church.
We seek to align every aspect of our lives under the authority of God’s perfect and unchanging Word. The Bible is our foundation it teaches us all we need to know to be reconciled with God and to live faithfully for Him each day.

We are a church with good news to share.
We joyfully proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ the good news that brings forgiveness, hope, and eternal life. Our mission is to see people from every background come to know and follow Christ, both in our local community and around the world. We pray earnestly that God will continue to accomplish this through us.

We are a church committed to shared leadership and service.
We value the diverse gifts God has given to His people and seek to encourage every believer to serve one another in love. Leadership is shared, and ministry is collaborative, as together we build up the body of Christ.

We are a welcoming and nurturing community.
Our gatherings are designed to be warm, reverent, joyful, and accessible to all. We aim to strengthen believers in knowledge, faith, and love from the youngest to the oldest. Above all, we want our devotion to God’s glory, His Word, the gospel, and the local church to shape everything we do.

What we Believe in?

A Brief Summary of Our Beliefs

• Our convictions are rooted in the timeless doctrines of historic Christianity, as expressed in the 1689 Second London Baptist Confession of Faith.

• We believe that the Bible is the divinely inspired Word of God wholly true, completely reliable, and the supreme authority for what we believe and how we live.

• We hold to the doctrines of grace, affirming that salvation is the work of God alone, accomplished entirely through His sovereign grace and mercy.

• As Baptists, we believe that it is the clear command of the Lord Jesus Christ that all who repent of their sins and place their faith in Him for salvation should be baptised by full immersion in water a public declaration of love, faith, and obedience to Him.

• We believe that worship should be reverent, God-honouring, and grounded in truth. Therefore, our services follow a traditional pattern, including hymns sung in Sinhala, Tamil, and English, the public reading of Scripture, prayer, and the preaching of God’s Word.

• Finally, we believe that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the greatest message anyone can hear that through Him, sinners are reconciled to God. For this reason, we are committed to making the faithful preaching and teaching of the Gospel central to the life and ministry of our church, both locally and beyond.

What the Bible Teaches About…

The Bible

The Bible is truly the Word of God fully inspired, trustworthy, and without error. It reveals everything we need to believe, understand, and do in order to be reconciled to God and live according to His will. Through Scripture, God makes Himself known, and we depend on His Spirit to rightly interpret and apply its truth.

God

At the heart of the Christian faith is the glorious mystery of God Himself one God in three equally divine Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is the almighty Creator and sovereign Ruler over all things. His authority extends to every aspect of creation, including the redemption of sinners, and His rule is wise, just, and absolute.

Humanity

To diagnose the human condition rightly, we must face an uncomfortable truth: although we were created in God’s image to reflect His glory and enjoy fellowship with Him forever, humanity has rebelled against its Creator. Every part of our being is corrupted by sin, and we are unable to save ourselves. Our only hope lies in God’s gracious intervention that He would breathe new life into our spiritually dead hearts.

Jesus Christ

God entered our world in the person of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin, He became fully human while remaining fully God. His words are entirely true, His deeds perfectly righteous. He suffered and died in the place of sinners, bearing the judgment we deserved, and rose bodily from the grave in triumph over sin and death. He later ascended into heaven, where He now intercedes for His people at the Father’s right hand.

Salvation

How can sinful humanity be made right with a holy God? Only through faith in Jesus Christ and His completed work. Salvation comes through trusting in Him alone a faith always accompanied by repentance from sin. This transformation is the work of the Holy Spirit, who gives new life, renews our hearts, and enables us to follow God in obedience and holiness.

It is a humbling truth that salvation, from beginning to end, is a work of divine grace. Yet believers are not called to be passive; rather, we are commanded to turn from sin, live in obedience to God, and bear fruit in good works. Our lives should be marked by continual worship, which finds its focus in the Lord’s Day gathering.

The Church

Christ is the Head of His Church, which is composed of all those redeemed by His grace called by God through the Gospel, made alive by the Spirit, and justified by faith. Believers unite in local congregations to worship, fellowship, and serve together as one body. New believers are baptised in obedience to Christ and participate in the Lord’s Supper as a remembrance of His sacrifice.

The Future

All of history is moving toward a glorious conclusion: the return of Jesus Christ. On that day, the dead will be raised, and every person will stand before God in judgment. Those who are reconciled to Him through Christ will enter eternal joy in His presence, while those who persist in rebellion will face everlasting separation from Him. This certain hope calls us to live faithfully and expectantly in the light of His coming.
